This page is my page to keep track of artists I know about and ones I want to look at and learn about.
For the artists I know about, I’m separating this list by gender and showing the women first. This is partially in response to seeing the Pacita Abad exhibit at the Walker Art Center. I remember thinking how have I not seen or heard of this woman’s art and realizing how much art by women I am missing.
Artists in this list are including because they inspire me in one way or another. A constant theme for me is color.
WOMEN:
- Alma Thomas - Bright colors, energetic brush strokes, uplifting.
- Kat Corrigan - Creator of beautiful art and wonderful teacher.
- Hazel Belvo - Color and captures the natural world. Exhibit at the Minnesota Museum of American Art.
- Pacita Abad - Bold and impactful, strong use of color. I feel like seeing the exhibit or her work changed my life. Exhibit at the Walker Art Center.
Want to look at and learn about:
Many of these are currently from the book “Art Can Save Your Life”.
- Group of Seven
- Thomas Eakins
